I’m writing a new novel at the moment. It’s tentatively called Oak Gall and Gold and is Book Two of The Peregrinus Series.
The series, like my others, is set in the twelfth century, and inevitably involves the machinations of the trading house of Gisborne ben Simon. This time, there’s an incomplete illuminated manuscript, a monk with no memory, and dealings with the Holy Roman Empire.

Today my latest trilogy is finally in print!
But before we get to that, grab a cup of tea or coffee and read on…
For those of you in the northern hemisphere, you begin the long trek through winter, something that always looks so beautiful from where we sit in the south. Snow bedecked trees, elegant forms traced in frost in the gardens. Iced lakes, rivers and ponds, toboggans and snowmen. The romance of a white winter.
Here of course, it’s vastly different.

It would be normal to then shout ‘Action’, but I’m not quite there yet. ‘Action!’ will be when Michael is available on Amazon, sometime next week. And it’s not unlike making a movie – telling a creative and unique storyline, revealing stunning settings, capturing nuances. Then editing, editing, editing…

April’s coming? The last month of the first quarter of the year?
Crikey!
I have to look back and ask: is there accomplishment in the last almost four months?
Well, yes. I’ve almost finished Michael, despite the hurdles that are being thrown my way.
Gosh! What a year it has been!
And how fast it has flown!
I wonder sometimes if it’s an age thing, that time flies because one is on the downhill run…
I was listening to a well-known Australian writer on the radio this afternoon.
She was talking about her latest release – a story taking place in WWI. Woven into the story is a tin of chocolate.
This writer is adept at marketing and promotion. To entice readers to her Meets and Greets, she had a chocolate made by an Australian chocolatier to give to trusty fans. And to make it even more special, the chocolate is blended with blackberry which is the name of the heroine’s horse.
And in a previous novel about perfume, WWI and France, she had a special French perfume blended and readers were invited to buy the limited edition.
Inspired marketing? Yes, I believe it’s very clever…
Or more specifically, the rough road of research.
What an adventure my journey with Guillaume has been to this date!
Especially with the twelfth century history of Lyon, France…
