Winterlight…
Winterlight at House is something else. Summer light is wonderful, the sun’s high in the sky and it’s warm but it’s more diffused.
In winter it’s pure and clear.
Got up this A.M and fell in love again with winterlight.
House is tiny. You can see from one end to the other. The perfect coastal hideaway.
Winterlight early in the morning in the west facing bedroom.
Double trouble.
My work today: research and editing.
Pleasure today: garden catalogue.
Then decided to see the beach in winterlight. Superb.
Banks of seaweed which the dogs and I love walking over. Like bouncing along on pogo sticks or perhaps what it feels like to be gravity-free on the moon.
Then back to House’s winterlit kitchen to make a quiche after watching The Little Paris Kitchen the other night. I decided to make a salmon and asparagus one.
Had it for dinner tonight with rocket salad and a crisp white. Will eventually be followed by chocolate and a cup of tea.
Lovely way to begin the weekend. What about you?
gorgeous – that’d be a good writing hideaway (as long as the quiche came too)
It is JH. You’re welcome any time you want to write in peace. Promise I’ll leave an asparagus and salmon quiche for you…
bless you, you would and all – okay, off to book my flight!
Up, up and awaaaay!
What a lovely little house! The quiche looks great too!
This house and I have a real relationship, Anne. And it’s where I do the best writing too…
seems lovely and the quiche looks delicious. I’m confused abput the poor doggies on the floor. My informs me the only place to be is on my lap…
Mine shed awfully and I get tired of being covered in white hair so whilst they have occasional lap moments, they love their beds. They are in front of a panel heater at night and get the sun all day… they’re happy! And spoiled. And run my life. And they get more attention than my OH. Did I say they were spoiled? Love ’em to pieces!
Meant MINE not MY
Lovely photos, Prue, thanks for sharing them.
The foam at the water’s edge looks like Valenciennes lace.
The quiche looks delicious. What a multi-talented person you are.
You’re very kind, Giselle, but truly, Rachel Koo’s recipe is totally bomb-proof and it’s hard not to make it look good. LOVE your description of the foam and shall always think of it as Valenciennes lace from now on!
Love your open floor plan with lots of windows to view the ocean and gardens and “double trouble”. I wonder why I am craving quiche?
Thank you, Lynn. This little cottage was built in the 1950’s by an English gentleman who understood light perfectly. We’re only the second owners and hope it’ll stay in the family forever!
