Gisborne continued…
The shortstory has now been published by Bo Press in a robust miniature form and I am delighted with what the studio has created. It portrays the essence of Gisborne’s place in the medieval era beautifully and given that my Gisborne has a predilection for illuminated manuscripts, is even more apt. I ordered one immediately but really feel I should order another and send it to Richard Armitage via his agent. Has anyone got the agent’s address?
I mentioned in an earlier blog that by writing this short-story it shone a light on the kind of conclusion I would like to have for the larger novel. I should also add that Pat’s beautifully apt quote now takes centre stage on the opening page of the larger novel.
That is simply beautiful. Congrats for everything.
It places Gisborne firmly in iconography.
Wow. Simply wow. You gals are fast!
(Mes, I can’t get the Bo Press link to work that you posted above.)
Thanks Fitzgj4. I think Pat deserves all the plaudits as she really worked hard and fast on this superb little piece. Can you believe that the story was written last weekend and she’s formatted, illustrated, published and bound the little novel into a collector’s item in less than a week? Amazing!!
Oh NB, I think the same about Pat… wow, wow, wow. I fixed the link and hope you get to see the little book in all its glory. It’s divine and I can’t wait to get my order in the mail!
Works perfectly now! Thanks for fixing it. Little book on the way to the Plains now. Waiting impatiently. 😉
I just knew you’d have to have one, NB. The bindings are done from soft black kid vintage gloves. Did you notice the perfectly copied welting from the BBC costume? V.v. clever.
Yep, caught my eye immediately! Very Season 1ish. My mother used old leather gloves to make a doll’s book satchel once. Turned out very nice altho she found it hard to cut a glove up.
I think one of the Teensy Books of Gisborne would be a perfect gift for a 40th birthday.
It’s just awesome! Are you really sending one to Richard? I’m sure he’ll love it. His birthday is next August 22. It’ll be perfect for his 40th! 🙂
Hi MG, it is exactly that: awesome!
As to gifting it: I would, it’s a collector’s piece after all… and a donation of the same value to the Salvation Army but I need the agent’s address first.
I can’t believe it has happened so quickly, without the involvement of magic!
And how could I resist something like this?
I KNEW you’d fall for it Giselle and just have to have one.
I think the next plan is to talk to Bopress about a piece on troubadours!
Thank you all for such extravagant praise! Having known a lot of actors, I doubt that Richard Armitage remembers being Guy of Gisborne very well – right now he’s Thorin. Although now that I think of it, Thorin and Guy would probably understand each other very well.
And making little books from Prue’s writing is the easiest work I’ve ever done – from her evocative descriptions they design themselves
You’re probably right, Pat. Maybe there’s a book to be had on dwarves and hobbits?
Having said that, GofG was responsible, along with N&S for the huge expansion in his fan-base so he may remember the role with fondness.
This is a real masterpiece, both the exquisite rebinding – leather book, yes, it is definitely Guy’s book – and the story, I am sure!
Congratulation, I’ll have one.
Isn’t it superb, Lady Cassia? I’ve just taken the Guy quote from Child Ballad #118 that Pat found and placed it at the opening chapter of the larger Gisborne novel.
Try this one. I think Richard MUST have a copy. He would love it!!

I’ve got the london address and the address of Peter Jackson’s studio in NZ… working on a purchase, but knowing RA it will have to have an associated donation to a charity for him to accept it.
I think too that Richard would love it:-)
Hello Fennena, welcome to Mesmered. I think you’re right!
Woohooo! And YeeHawww!! My Teensy book arrived TODAY!! Fast fast service. And wait until you see and read the Teensy book. It is too cute for words…is cute the right word? Because it’s also beautiful and the design is perfect and it’s well-constructed. And the story!!!!!

An Elated Teensy Book Owner
Oh NB! Thrilled that you love it. Was the story what you expected?
I can’t wait for mine in my hands…
My little book arrived safely yesterday, and it’s all I could have hoped for and more. Exquisite, both in form and content. Thank you, Pat, and thank you Prue!
Giselle,
My copy arrived yesterday too and I got to hold it at last. I am as in awe of Pat as you. And thank you for the kind words on the text within!
