Creative juices…

So you see it isn’t all arty-farty, you know. All painting, sculpture, writing and so on…

It could be this…

 But on a far more earthy level, it could be rigging a safety harness when one doesn’t have the correct thing, because climbing the silo to the top in a howling gale, is not pleasant, especially when the empty silo is actually shuddering in the wind. (3 hours later, it was so anchored with stockfeed that it would never move!).

 Or creativity could be the construction of two dams to hold water from an irrigation scheme when the alternative means the farm-holding cannot move forward economically.

Or it could be inventing hay-feeders for round bales.

Or a make-do bulka-bag to tow behind the city car as a feeder because the ute was elsewhere and I wasn’t able to drive the 4-wheeler towing the purpose-built feeder this day.

Farmers are creative folk. They learn the art of making do because the nearest suppliers of hardware might be miles/kilometres away. A farmer rarely ever throws any bit of wire or wood away. It’s always stored, just in case…

So when anyone speaks in lofty terms about this literary art form or that painterly excellence, I just think of the many out there, like my own family, who create in a wholly different medium…
