Listen to the falling rain listen to it fall…
Mizzle and drizzle. Rain and showers. Fog and mist. Easterly waves and wind.
This has been going on for nearly nine days.
I know I should be glad, being a good farmer’s wife and all, but the truth is I hate it… (Mind you, I’m glad I’m not a small fruit grower and we’ll certainly have to look out for flystrike on the sheep in the humidity.)
The porch is filled with wet stuff – wet door mat, wet coat, wet umbrella.
And also, the dogs’ foot bath and towel.
Inside is no better – the clothes we wore walking the dogs on the beach in the rain hang on the clothes horse because tiny House doesn’t boast a clothes drier. I feel as if I live in a laundrette.
So what to do to keep occupied and prevent self from overeating and over drinking and whilst the dogs sulk.
I made November Bride’s delicious choc chip cookies. She makes these in mega amounts for copious children, grandchildren and cowboys on the Kansas cattle spread.
I made chocolate sauce from my mother’s and aunt’s age-old recipe using cocoa, brown sugar and milk.
I made pizzas for dinner tonight.
And still the drizzle sweeps over in soaking veils so that the air is softly moist and one grows webbing between one’s toes.
The garden of course is in love with this weather and so whilst it revels,
I retreat to Pawns to check the layout and formatting before it heads back to be print published in a revised and freshened edition.

The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.
The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain
Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.
And finally:
Just the thing to brighten up a miserable day, It has been raining overnight, but the sun is trying to come through !
Oh Libby. I haven’t seen sun for so long, I am taking Vitamin D capsules and beginning the wish the government hadn’t banned solariums!
But I did achieve quite a lot for the day and the pizzas were nice!
The sun is out here, but I am going to have to do some chores and finish my remaining cards , debating whether to put the Christmas tree up or leave it till next weekend, am out in the afternoon seeing a friend so better get my skates on !!!!
Talking of pizza’s (they looked scrummy) reminded me I need to feed my Christmas cake , so that will be my first task!
Libby, my tradies (the chaps doing the renovations) have eaten the first Christmas cake and I have to make another one. I love the idea of ‘feeding’ it. I must remember to do that too.
Hang on…no solariums?!!!! Why for Pete’s Sake?!!! Maybe your definition of solarium in Tasmania is different that ours? A room with lots of windows?
I love rain. You should too. Makes stuff grow you know. 🙂
Solariums are tanning lounges in Australia, NB. A room with many glass windows or all glass, is called a conservatory. Don’t get me wrong, I love rain too for what it does – crops, pasture and gardens – but we had 12 days with rain and absolutely no sun. It gets to you in the end.
