Dark Mofo…
Went to Dark Mofo tonight. Dressed in polar clothes as the temperature whilst there was 6 degrees Celsius (about 42 degrees for northerners!)
Spectra: the most amazing light projection 15 kms into the sky and with the eeriest sound effects. The lightbeams made even the moon and stars seem small. Amazing to be amongst the lights and look up. Hobart just converged on it. All ages. Well done MONA!
Then down to Princes’ Wharf One for Dark Mofo’s Winterfeast. Fine food and superb wines, beers and ciders made from that fresh produce for which Tasmania is world famous. Braziers, fire pots, roaring fires, flame throwers and live entertainment which was fab! Far better even than the summer Taste of Tasmania.
And will see this tomorrow.
The skywhale. Curious! All of the above – artistic endeavour that’s so different to the written page.
Makes cold winter utterly worthwhile.
Fabulous!
Nude swim tomorrow, Mr.Turney. Supposed to be art. I’m off to see if I can spot whales up the coast (migration time). Many frozen and naked bodies do not appeal.
Fantastic photos, Prue – and not just the food! Thanks for sharing this – wish I could have been there!
MONA has given a direct transfusion of life into a tiny place that has been progressively dying with the downturn globally. This has been an exciting thing to attend, Gerry!
WOW! Looks amazing! Indeed a great way to spend a winter night!
Is very out there and quite astonishing. Yet to see the big MONA exhibition at the gallery. And for the sake of art there is a nude swim early tomorrow morning. Can’t see the art in that, but whatever!
