Yes, I am in a cast. A back-slab with bandaging holding it from toe to mid calf. That’s for at least ten days, until they determine the mending. If its mending okay, I can go into a moon-boot for 6 weeks. If not: pins via orthopaedic op.
MY BIG BREAK!!!! Major publishing house and agent have signed the new book and the movie rights have been sold. Richard Armitage and Ashwariyah Rai to star in lead roles!
Oh my God! Prue- I’m so sorry, I hope you’re feling better by now! 🙁
I fractured my ankle couple of years ago and they put it a cast, I know it’s not fun.
But still, I admire you and your sense of humor! I was crying, let alone cracking jokes 🙂
Thanks so much, Lua. It’s strange how many people HAVE broken their ankles. The cast is a half cast, a back-slab, but weighs a ton anyway. In addition, the elbow crutches are giving me muscles where a woman just shouldn’t have them!
And I have had a couple of good cries, I can tell you. Utter self-pity. And have been in a V.V. bad mood too, with frustration. All the emotions are good food for writing of course!
Well Prue, as you can see I am avoiding putting stock away Falling down stairs are not good for ankles, been there done that!! You just have to learn to put more brandy in the water. The fall doesn’t hurt so much then. I do hope the mending goes well and you don’t have to succumb to pins & plates. Ain’t life a bugger?
Oh Maryanne! And just after I’d been in to see you. I just wish I’d bought other stuff while I was there, as I can see rather a lot of needlework being done. No pins, no plates. Only a boot from now for 6 weeks and of course the crtuches! David Humphries took the plaster off yesterday, he was so disgusted at the way Emergency had done the ankle. Back to him today for further treatment.
Prue, if there is anything you need just call & I will drop it into you and that includes anything that you need in Sandy Bay (apart from new shoes). Well at least Emergency recognised it as broken, they were going to send me home with a “badly sprained” ankle except that the mobile x-ray machine was in the next booth and the new young radiologist needed some practice!! 2 plates & 9 pins later …. now I only wear flats and walk around like a little old lady watching my feet when it rains LOL
Ow, Prue, not fun at all. Have they put you in a cast? Hoping the pain isn’t too bad. Guess you won’t be riding any sheep for awhile…

Let’s hope for the former.
omg! so sorry to hear. wishing you a swift recovery.
Swift being today, Velvet. I am THE worst patient. Keep writing big vvb32’s. It gives me something good to read.
Oh no!!! You poor thing 🙁 Fingers crossed for good mending. x
Good mending! Ha ha, Clare. Between two needle-ladies that’s quite funny! Thanks for your wishes.
My most heartfelt sympathy, but the cartoons are pretty funny. Be up and about soon!
Wouldn’t it have been nice to be able to say:
