Apropos of yesterday, this is what our farm looks like now that it is slashed to prevent fires. The word ‘Sahara’ comes to mind.

As we sat surrounded by smoke last Friday, the little town of Dunalley battled the odds.
It’s a sweet town, situated round the Dunalley Canal which enables pleasure and fishing boats to shortcut into the Derwent Estuary from the Tasman Sea rather than chancing the exposed southern tip of Tassie and the Southern Ocean.

For Christmas I’ll pick and pod peas, pick, pod and par-cook broadbeans and slip them from their skins, pick baby carrots, make a ratatouile with fresh yellow and green zucchini and dig some kipfler potatoes. Who cares about turkey when we can have all that plus a mango and mint salad and a beetroot (from the garden) and feta salad?
As I attempt to re-brand myself, changing myself from http://mesmered.wordpress.com to https://pruebatten.com, I have been looking over everything required to create a brand.
When I began this blog, in November of 2009, I can remember thinking Help! How do I get anyone to read anything, let alone subscribe?
I began with absolutely no confidence in myself and thus I thought it best to hide behind the odd name ‘mesmered’. It seemed apt as in my books, the Others that inhabit the pages use a mesmer to enchant mortals and in a subliminal way, maybe I was hoping to enchant readers.
