Therapy in thread…
There have been problems in the administrative side of my writing life over the last week and I haven’t felt like writing.
So what does one do when one can’t write?
Make cookies?
Or finish the stumpwork Swallowtail Butterfly taught by Jane Nicholas this time last year?
I opted for the stitching.
Traced the wings onto calico.
Couched the wire.
Freaked out when I saw the sharp edges of the bottom part of the wings.
THIS is what the butterfly will look like.
This is the first effort at wings in class, using an entirely different thread with no lustre.
And then this morning found all admin glitches were sorted… but stitched anyway because I go to a lovely stitch group every Friday morning.
Your needlework is spectacular. And the cookies look scrumptious. It looks as if you’ve been dealing with your Amazon glitch horrors with sanity and grace. Let’s hope it’s all over now!
Thanks Anne. Although my needlework is at the bottom of the class compared to some. And yes, all the business with Amazon is sorted… THAT’S the blessing!
Prue, if you ever need someone to send cookies to, or children’s books, or anything embroidered, feel free to send it to me in the west! You constantly amaze me with your skills! 🙂
Ah Nikalee, it’s all smoke and mirrors! But I have to say, since becoming a ‘full-time’ writer, the embroidery is becoming less and less which is dangerous, as I know my eyes are getting worse and I really should enjoy it (stumpwork) whilst I can. For the cookies – I am the original sweet tooth and so I just feed my habit!
The little mouse books are so sweet and were completed 3 years before The Stumpwork Robe was published. When i had more time for more leisurely pursuits.
