Green Gables…
Whenever I check my stats on Mesmered, there is one image that gets more views than any other in the three years I have been blogging. Every week it will have views, without fail. It’s not a star like Richard Armitage or Rufus Sewell, not views of my beautiful beaches, nor images of my life on the farm.
It is Green Gables, the house used on Prince Edward Island during the filming of Anne of Green Gables.
What I want to know is why?
- Because the TV series with Megan Followes is still as popular as ever? (It is with me. Perennial. Like Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Erle)
- Because L.M. Montgomery’s wonderful words have as much resonance now as they did then? (They do for me. I was in fact reading Anne of Avonlea when Posie Graeme Evans’s proof copy of The Island Home arrived).
What do you think…
I guess everyone loves Anne of Green Gables, Prue! It’s such a feelgood story and it helps us forget the depressing reality of life. The island and the house are so removed from today’s reality that it really is an escape, even just looking at the photo. Siiigghhh! 🙂
I agree, its lovely. The key words are feelgood!
