Blue rules!!! And I love your blues! We should have a contest to see who has the most BLUE…but I really take comfort in knowing that you treasure your broken dishes. ME TOO! I can’t bear to throw them away, so I stick them in potted plants to decorate the top of the soil. And larger pieces go into flower beds. So there are two now…the International Shard Collectors Society! 🙂
I’m in, Queen. I love finding shards. There is a beach near Hobart on the Derwent River called China Beach and it was where the old refuge barges from the 1800’s would dump the town’s refuse and that’s where I found my first blue and white shards. But with the farm, oddly, when the paddocks are ploughed it’s amazing what turns up and nearly always blue and white. I can only suppose that the farmer’s wife in the 1800’s (from when the property dates) would have her refuse buried in the paddocks away from the house. I love finding blue glass as well and my favourite is the bottom of a small bottle which has some nonsensical letters and then the word ‘London’. And we have just found a perfect little glass bottle but no matter what i do, I cannot get the 100 years of dirty grime from inside. I have tried all manner of hot soapy things, so if you have a remedy, let me know! It seems that everyone in the 1800’s had willow pattern china or similar!
I got some beautiful mugs from my father in law for Christmas and when I saw them I thought of you, Prue! Google Images “Botanic Blue china” and you find the pattern. If you don’t know it already, I’m sure you’d love it!
I googled, Nikalee, and they are beautiful, you’re very lucky! On google, I almost went into OCD mode as there were images from blogs with more links, and more links still, to blue and white. Think I might have to create a PINTEREST board of the colour way so I can get lost in it.
Thanks for sharing. Love every little detail you wanted to show us from your home 🙂
Thanks Maria, they are tiny little things that make the corners of the room special. And as you can see, I’m still into blue!

Sounds like a good idea! I can certainly see why you love the combination. Pretty yet calming.
