Hurrah, huzzah etc…
Today was a good day!
Gisborne: Book of Pawns has been nominated as a finalist in the Readers’ Favorites Book Awards USA 2014.
Both Pawns and Knights were entered and Pawns was chosen as a double finalist. Kings of course was still been written when entries closed, so it is yet to try itself in a similar scenario.
These awards have some cachet and allow independent and mainstream writers alike to compete on a level playing field – for recognition, for medals, for cash and for movie rights.
Two years ago, another of my books, A Thousand Glass Flowers, received a silver medallion in the fantasy category.
It was the first sign to me that my writing had come of age and I seemed to gain a smidge of self-belief from that moment – a feeling that I might just have what it takes to impress readers with a good ballad.
The results will be announced in September.
Wish me luck!
Well deserved! Good Luck!
Thanks so much Lee – I’m so pleased!
YEEHAA! Good Luck
Yeehaa indeed, Gordon. Corks popping!
Major congrats, Prue!!
Thanks Anne. I am seriously chuffed over this. The entry numbers were huge – so big that RF had to delay the announcement by 2 weeks as the judges worked their way through that first round. So that even if Gisborne: Book of Pawns makes it no further than finalist, I will be delighted that it made it this far. It now goes through the second and final round which takes from now till September.
I’ve read the chronicles and they’re wonderful books! I’m sure the Gisborne’s will get awarded too. Fantastic writing. I wish you success in this participation.
Thank you, so much, Susana. There is a LOT of competition as you can see in the screen grab!
I am looking for new books to read , I shall look you up. Congratulations.
Thank you, Trish. I do hope you enjoy what you find. Cheers.
Congrats. You are most deserving.
Thanks so much, Pat. Very excited and hoping the book can pull it off!!!
